CLIFF AND THE MEDIA

It seems such a shame that Cliff  never, well very rarely gets played on the radio. After all he   has been around for years. He deserves more respect than he gets. Its not many artists that are still going strong with such a vast following of fans.

Radio stations refused to play his Millenium prayer record, but despite this he still made it to NO 1 for   three weeks. It also ended up being the biggest selling record by a British artisit for 1999. It has also sold over 1.57 Million copies, which gave Cliff a gold disc.

Cliff has since left EMI mainly due to the fact that they wouldn't release Millenium Prayer. Cliff has his own record company called Black Knight and has signed some new artists.

This silly idea of radio stations not playing Cliff just seems so unfair. How is Cliff ever going to get  new fans if people can't hear his music. Cliff decided to beat the radio stations at their own game. He bought out a single called ''Can't keep this feeling in''.It was released under a different name  and was re-mixed. The radio stations played the track and it even went to NO 1 in the Kiss FM charts. Some DJs even said that the singer was 'wicked'. As soon as they found out it was Cliff they stopped playing it.....I guess this says it all really.

The papers hardly  ever say anything nice about Cliff. You never see his concerts advertised anywhere and if it wasn't for the NET and fan clubs then you would never know when and where Cliff is appearing.  If they aren't having ago at Cliff then they start on the fans. Cliff has just finished the 'Off the record ' concerts at the RAH. Even after no advertising all 12 dates sold out. One paper did a review which you will find the link to at the bottom of this page. It was a fairly good review but they still can't stop themselves from getting the silly remarks in. Never mind that Cliff is 60 and still going strong.

There has also been this pole about who should retire. Its been said that Cliff is  the top of the list and so many thousands want him to retire. Well I don't know anybody who was asked to vote and all I can say is they should have seen him doing his stuff at the RAH.

A fan won a competition on a radio station. They were asked what song they would like to hear and after replying ...CLIFF they were told that they don;t play any Cliff records. Still Cliff has proved time and time again that he doesn't need media.

I know that Cliff isn't the only star that this so called ban affects, but without radio and media how are people ever going to hear new stuff. After all varitey is the spice of life!!. Maybe one day things will change but until then I'll keep listening to my CDs and Internet radio .

I hope you have enjoyed this  infomation and if you have anything else you would like me to add then please email me.
